Welcome!

This guide is designed to help you find 5 secondary sources for your Collaborative Research Project.

    Library Basics

    Research Framework

Begin by defining your Research Framework:

    1. Research Problem: What do you already know? What do you want to find out?

    2. Sources: Which types of secondary sources you would like to identify (or are you required to use):

    Types of Sources:Research Tool:
    Books Harvest Catalog
Journal, Magazine, Newspaper Articles & Book Chapters Subscription Database(s)
Websites (e.g. reports, blogs, media sources, statistics) Commercial Search Engine(s)

Important Note: While you are working on a local problem, keep in mind that the secondary sources you find will likely focus on other communities! For example, you might not be able to find a peer-reviewed article about safety at UC Davis, but you may discover published sources that discuss violence or safety on other college campuses.

    3. Search: What has been published in credible sources?
