Laws Passed by Congress

    United States Code is the codification by subject of the laws of the United States.
  • Public Laws
    Public and Private Laws, also known as slip laws, are laws passed by congress and signed by the President. They are eventually bound into the U.S. Statutes at Large.
  • U.S. Statutes at Large  
      
    Permanent collection of all laws and resolutions enacted during each session of Congress; arranged in order of Public Law numbers.
  • United States Code
    Permanent laws of the U.S. codified by subject are also in print in Humanities, Social Sciences & Government Information Services.

This quick guide provides links to Federal regulations.  Regulations are not laws passed by Congress; they are regulations written by Federal agencies, with the authorization of congressional acts.

    Annual edition of the codified, or subject arranged, version of all rules and regulations currently in effect. To search by keyword go to FDsys Advanced.

    Electronic Code of Federal Regulations, a currently updated version of the Code of Federal Regulations.
    To search by keyword, go directly to the Advanced Search for CFR.
  • Federal Register
    Daily publication with new regulations, rules, proposed rules, and notices from Federal agencies.
